 Abstract:  The Cleveland, Ohio, chapter of the Jaycees was originally known as the Junior Chamber of Commerce, a leadership-training and community service-oriented organization for men and women ages 18-36. The Cleveland chapter was organized in 1938 and began accepting women for full membership in 1984. The collection consists of individual and group portraits of members, and views of various Jaycees functions and events.

 Abstract:  The Four-In-Hand and Tandem Club Company was formed in Cleveland, Ohio, "to furnish facilities for and to promote an interest in four-in-hand and tandem driving and other athletic and outdoor exercises for the amusement, recreation, health, and profit of its members, and to acquire and own property convenient therefore." The collection consists of one photograph album kept as a record book by the Four-In-Hand and Tandem Club of Cleveland, Ohio. The photographs show still and action coaching scenes, picnics, and groups of members. Also included are clippings, schedule sheets, and autographs of members.

 Abstract:  The Rowfant Club is a Cleveland, Ohio, club open by invitation only to men of diverse business and professional interests whose bond is a love of books, book collecting, and the art of bookmaking. Organized in 1892, the club chose to identify itself with Frederick Locker-Lampson by adopting the name of his Sussex County, England, estate, "Rowfant." The club insignia, groundhog and candles, are used in initiation and election procedures. The collection consists of photographs, postcards, negatives, and sketches relating to the Cleveland Rowfant Club, its members, activities, facilities, and other related subjects. Photographs include individual and group portraits of members, interior and exterior views of the Rowfant Club, views of objects, other Rowfant Clubs, paper-making, photographs related to literary figures, and libraries.

 Abstract:  The City Club of Cleveland is a Cleveland, Ohio, men's club formed in 1912 to provide a platform for the discussion of issues of contemporary interest. Women were admitted in 1972. A number of noted individuals have addressed the Club's forum. The collection consists of views of the City Club, including its building, meetings, dinners, and programs. The program views include photographs of the Club's "Anvil Review," a satirical production written, directed and performed by club members. Photographs were taken by Cleveland Press photographers.

 Abstract:  Maison Francaise de Cleveland was founded in 1918 by Emile B. De Sauze in Cleveland, Ohio. This organization sought to promote cultural relations between Cleveland and France by encouraging the study of French culture, language, art and literature, by publishing information regarding these studies, and by assisting professors, teachers and students in their activities. The collection consists of individual and group portraits and views of members, guests and activities of the Maison Francaise de Cleveland (Ohio). Included in the collection is a portrait of its founder, Emile B. Sauze, and views of the presentation of Bartholdi's clay working model of the Statue of Liberty to the city of Canton, Ohio, in 1970. Also included are copies of newspaper clippings related to the photographs.

 Abstract:  The Cleveland Section of the National Council of Jewish Women is a women's service organization founded in 1894, in Cleveland, Ohio, as a local chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women. Its services to Cleveland's Jewish and general communities include hot meals delivered to the elderly, homes for the elderly and working girls, scholarships, day nurseries and thrift shops. The collection consists of individual and group portraits of women active in the organization, including Ruth Einstein, credited with the idea of Council Gardens, and past presidents Isabelle Brown, Iris Curtis, Ernestine Greenberger, Maddy Joseph, Betty Mintz, Barbara Sobel, Jo Tramer, Yetta Wasserman, and Peggy Wasserstrom. Group portraits and views document the varied activities taken on by the Cleveland Section in the 1960s and 1970s, including the preparation of the Access Guide to Cleveland Disabled and Elderly Individuals, volunteer work at Mount Pleasant Community Center, Thrift Shops, and the establishment of Council Gardens in 1963 and Council House in 1979. National activities are represented by views of various conventions and legislative meetings with congressmen Tom Lantos and Charles Vanik and senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum. International activities include Ship-a-Box, which sent toys to Israel. Also included are views of fashion shows and luncheons, popular social and fundraising events. Important early views include the "Beehive Booth," a fund raising event at Grays Armory in 1897, a Camp Wise view form 1907, and a Big Sister scene from 1919.

 Abstract:  The League of Women Voters was formed in 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, by former suffragists and members of the Woman's Suffrage Party. The League is nonpartisan and has endorsed various legislation, including laws to protect female workers and improve child welfare and education. Its efforts include voter registration drives, assistance to election boards, demonstrations of registration and voting techniques, as well as sponsoring candidates debates. The collection consists of photographs of members and activities engaged in or sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Cleveland. Included in the photographs is a group portrait in front of the Woman Suffrage Headquarters, ca. 1912, that includes Belle Sherwin and Florence Allen. Other photographs are of the October 3, 1914, Ohio Women's Suffrage Parade in Cleveland, Ohio. Pictured are Mrs. George F. Forest, the Men's League for Equal Suffrage, the Progressive Party float, and the Ohio County Committees for Women's Suffrage. Photographs of League displays and buildings include views of the National League of Women Voters building, a straw vote display, and various voter registration displays. Group portraits, taken at League activities, include Carl Stokes, Mary Jayne Willis, Anthony Celebrezze, Robert Montgomery, Mrs. John C. Lee, Mrs. Charles Bing, Mrs. Malcolm McBride, Mrs. Maz Hellman, Mrs. Howard Law, Mrs. Melvin Ott, Mrs. Durrell Haag, Mrs. William Merriman, Mrs. Norman Davies, Mrs. Duane Willis, Miss Grace Treat, and Judge Mary B.
